Hello all my Bella beauties. As I began to write this month’s Food of the Month, I had a strange feeling that something special was up. I checked the calendar and realized that this month will be exactly two years that I’ve been contributing the Food of the Month column to Your Bella Life!! I have loved researching my favorite foods and sharing all their awesome benefits along with recipes with you, but I’ve decided that after two years it’s time for some fresh air and a fresh column. I’m so excited about my new direction for Your Bella Life and I can’t wait to share it with you in June.
I wanted to send off the Food of the Month in style and give you a monthly recap of all the incredible foods we’ve been discovering together. Which ones did you miss? Spring is officially in the air and I’m sure no matter where you live you’ll be welcoming the warmer temperatures, longer days and bounty of fresh vegetables. Another thing we typically welcome this time of year? Booze. Yup, booze. Sidewalk brunching, Friday happy hours, and Saturday night festivities seem to blossom in full force along with the first flowers. Feeling super busy? A little stressed out perhaps? Rather than moving with the natural flow of the colder, darker months and chilling out on the couch and catching some extra zzz’s, we seem to be suffering from over-packed schedules, and unfortunately, the stress that comes along with them. My goal for myself, and for all of my Bella Beauties during the month of February, is to slow down, up the self-care practices and toss the stress ball tendencies that often accompany busy schedules out into the snow. It’s that time of year again. The time when my inbox is flooded with emails asking what the best detoxes are and my top tips for detoxing. I totally get it. We’ve all just been through the holiday happenings. Grazing at cocktail parties and indulging in sugar and spice and everything nice. It’s only natural that come January we mentally and physically crave a break; an opportunity to clear out all the junk and allow our bodies to reboot.
The funny thing is (and this is depending where you live), the colder months can be the most tricky when it comes to safe and gentle detoxing. Our bodies naturally crave warmer and cooked foods to help combat the cold and often cooling juices with a lot of fruit can feel disconnected from our environments.
