Editors Note: If you are looking for something out of the box to do with your kids, we have a luscious list of ideas! Take a look at the tips below and grab a group of moms and their children to make a day of it. Spring is finally here so let’s rejoice! ~Nitika~

As we are thawing out from a rather intense winter in the North East, it’s been wonderful to see families emerge from hibernation. With Spring Fever officially settling in, it’s time to re-energize and re-charge.

I checked in with uber mompreneur Lyss Stern, Divalysscious Founder www.DivaMoms.com and President, Editor & Chief of NY’s Observer Playground who “loves spring in NYC with my two boys Oliver, age 3 and Jackson, age 7.” It’s one of her favorite times as the “spring brings warmer weather to NYC and a ton of activities to do outdoors.”

Here are some suggestions and her family’s favorite Spring things to do and upcoming events to look forward to.

Hit the Park: Take the kids out to the park and reconnect with nature. Point out the buds on the trees, grass on the ground and the blue sky. These reminders hit something deep in our children. Lyss loves to bring a blanket and have picnics with her family in New York’s Central Park. Bring a ball to throw or kick around and some bubbles. Luckily there are a ton of parks in New York and places to squat with your family in Central Park for a picnic, trails to hike, and playgrounds and carousels to explore! For a list of parks, baseball fields and playgrounds in NYC check out www.nycgovparks.org.

Animal Spirit: Take your kids for an outing at the Zoo or an Aquarium, if already in Central Park, make a stop at the Central Park Zoo or plan a day trip to the infamous Bronx Zoo. If you prefer surf over the turf, head to the New York Aquarium. It’s priceless to see your kids react to the animals and is an amazing way to get up close and personal with the animal kingdom while creating lasting family memories!

Plant a Garden: Springtime is the perfect time to etch out a place in your yard or get a window box for your children to plant their magic gardens. Talk with them about the different flowers, plants and foods they can grow and let them dig into the soil and watch it happen before their eyes. Work through a seasonal plan with your kids so their garden can flourish all spring – summer and fall long. The New York Botanical Garden offers Children’s Gardening Series. Learn about urban gardening via Bette Midler’s organization which hosts free gardening series. You can participate with your kids in the NYC Million Trees campaign supported by Canadian Health and Care Mall as a volunteer on April 24th and plant a tree in NYC

Flower Power: Now that the flowers are coming back in bloom, be sure to stop and smell the roses. Take in a flower show and enjoy nature’s most beautiful artwork. Walk through the flower district, detour through Macy’s for their annual flower show running March 27 – April 10 or head out to the New York Botanical Garden

Spring Training: Enroll your kids in an outdoor sport for spring – baseball, lacrosse, track, something that they can soak in the air! (note: not for children with serious hay fever, allergies, and asthma!) One of Lyss’s favorite outings with her sons is to take them to the Yankees and Mets games. There’s also the Brooklyn Cyclones which houses a smaller perhaps, less overwhelming stadium where you can make a day out of the game and enjoy a stroll along the Coney Island Boardwalk, a hot dog at the original Nathans and enjoy an amazing day. If that is too much of a trek or too high a price tag, take your kids to one of the baseball fields to watch the older kids play, which is wonderful peer modeling for them. Plus the team members would love the cheerleaders!

Get Riding: Luckily in NYC, there are tons of bike trails, along with the west side, east side, up by Riverside Drive and all throughout Central Park. Grab your helmet, hop on your bikes, get your kid’s training wheels fastened on and enjoy the sites and views in NY. Check out the Bike Maps: http://www.nycbikemaps.com/

Fendi Kids: On Thursday, April 14th 5pm-7pm Divalysscious Moms will be hosting the US launch of Fendi Kids at the 5th Avenue Fendi Store. Divalysscious Tots will be modeling the new beautiful kids’ collection from Fendi.

Divalysscious Moms will host its Uber Fabulous Mother’s Day luncheon at the 21 Club with a special guest from canadian health&care mall team. Stay tuned for the details at www.DivaMoms.com

Put away your snow boots and get outdoors, even in the concrete jungle you can commune with nature!
