What We All REALLY Want

Editors Note: This article touches on an incredibly beautiful and ultimately life changing conversation, what is it that you REALLY want? With so much coming at us all the time and often tempting us to buy, eat, and possess more, there is a big chance we could be getting the answer to this question wrong.  Read below to begin this exploration, and take a look at other articles written by Kelsea Brennan to get your daily dose of love in your life! ~Nitika~

What do you want?

Chances are the idea of what you think you want, is not your true desire.

So what is it?  A new job, boyfriend, car,  husband, to be 10 pounds lighter?

Now another question.

If you had that very thing, yet still felt the same way you feel without it, would you still want it?  Perhaps.  But if not, then what is it you really want?

Without appearing assumptive I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s one of the following: happiness, confidence, love and inner peace.

Whether we recognize it or not, we all want what we want because of the way we think it will make us feel.  Case in point, no woman ever wants to get involved with a guy because she thinks he will treat her badly.  Just like no person ever takes a job because they think it will suck and make them miserable. We are pleasure seeking beings and everything, yes everything, we do is because on some level with think it will make us feel good, or at least better.

Rarely satisfied and briefly at peace so many of us have become accustomed to accumulation.  Whether its possessions, people or accolades, the majority of us are on a constant hunt for fulfillment.  Call it ambition, goal setting or working hard.  However it’s not necessarily the act of wanting and getting that leaves us high and dry.  It is the intention rather that something outside ourselves will ever make is us feel complete for an extended period of time.

With this idea in mind we will constantly be let down.  We all have examples in our lives of getting exactly what we thought we wanted only to find ourselves wanting more or different shortly thereafter.

However there is a way to have our cake and eat it too. Material possessions are on this earth for us to enjoy. By no means should we limit our desires.  Yet with clarity around our true desires we can be freed from the need so many of us feel that bind us to the externals of this world.  Want happiness?  Although BMW may tell us that the car itself is joy, we know better.  The key is to identify every feeling we believe a thing, person, place or title will bring us.  With this identification we can begin to look for evidence of that very feeling in our present lives.

Cultivating that very emotion without having to rely on anything outside of us will do several things.  First it will shift our focus from lack to abundance.  Currently we see our lives lacking that which we desire.  When we focus on having already what it is we desire a fulfillment from a power greater then us becomes evident.  Secondly it raises our energy and lastly with all of this we feel good if not better then before.

So continue to desire and believe you can have what you want.  Yet not without keeping focus and belief on the idea that all you really want and need is already within. Perhaps you just haven’t been looking in the right place.

Great article. It brought to light that some things I really want are feelings, dreams or ideas I have inside myself that I have not manifested. Manifesting them from and outside source however, will not help me.
