There is something in the air and it is definitely not just the smell of fall approaching…This summer has been very evocative of change, movement yet also stagnation and a lack of true inspiration. I have had one too many conversations with entrepreneurs that are at their wits end. There has been one too many chats that go something like this: “I don’t know if I’m cut out for this anymore.” “I have been doing this for years and I’m just not making the cash I need” “I’ve listened to ____ coach, done the workshops, research, testing why is this not working” “Maybe it is time to throw in the towel and go back to a full time day job”
The thing that is lacking in all of the above is remembering why you got into this in the first place. You know the truth that was in the pit of your stomach dying to jump out and be shared with the world. Your passion, your gifts, your ability to serve xyz in a unique inspired way.
We tend to get stuck and dig our heels in the mud when something is not working. We retreat and close ourselves – we can’t risk letting them see us in our true emotion – that would portray ourselves as human and god forbid the world (aka possible clientele) sees us in that light. With this change of season I want you to make an attempt to take a slight detour from the rest. I want you to re inspire yourself and stop worrying about what the other coach, entrepreneur, and six figure gal is doing in the moment. I want you to go deep within your soul and get back in alignment with the why of your business. Find your passion and desire within yourself not within another’s website, program, workshop, status update, etc.
The biggest thing that sells our business is not perfection, solid strategy or adaptation of someone else’s six figure method – the thing that sells our businesses is US. Our personality, our unique flair, our special way of sharing ourselves and our truths is what attracts others and will create them to either resonate with us or bow out and find another.
The biggest lesson I have learned and will share with you is that it is not always about what your latest offering is or how snazzy and tested it is – it is about what lights you up and how open and real you are with your people and your business. Personality sells. Cookie Cutter versions of xyz do not.
Are you incorporating YOU into your business? I’d love to hear how it’s working (or not working) and if you wish to boldly take this idea into consideration as the leaves change.
