Cool off. A hot, steamy shower in the winter may feel amazing but it wrecks havoc on your skin. As the temperatures dip outdoors, similarly lower your shower temperature too in order to keep your skin smooth and soft. Also, swap out your dehydrating soap and instead use a moisturizing body wash to help lock in moisture.
Exfoliate. Both you face and body need to be rid of those dull, dry skin cells that pile on when the weather gets cold. I love using Bliss’s Blood Orange Scrub on my body but just mixing sugar into your usual body wash will do the trick too! For my face, Arcona’s Cranberry Gommage is my favorite, but just some ground oats in your usual cleanser will work also!
Hydrate. You may feel less included to load up on the H20 come wintertime, but your skin needs the hydration now more than ever. With steamy, drying heat and bitter cold temperatures, you skin needs all the moisture it can get – especially from the inside out – so be sure to drink loads of water or decaffeinated tea all season long. Your skin will thank you!
Moisturize. No matter your skin type (yes, even you ladies with oily skin!) need to moisturize, expeciailly in the winter. I love Estee Lauder’s Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age Correcting Cream, but it is pricey! For a splurge-like result without the hefty price tag, though, head to your local health food store and pick up a jar of raw, un-refined, cold-pressed, virgin coconut oil – it can remove your makeup and moisturize all at the same time (and all without clogging your pores!).
