It has been referred to as FakeBook. It is not that the pictures and posts we see are not real; it is the stories and assumptions we make about those pictures and posts, are not.
Case in point…
I recently saw a picture posted in my newsfeed. It was an engagement photo of a couple who had married about 6 months prior. Immediately I heard my mind think “They must have the best relationship,” in a woe is me sort of tone.

“Ugh! And I was having such a good day!”
In a split second the status of a day can flip. The best day ever can quickly go down the drain, for some of us more easily than others. A rude remark or flat tire can ruin a day as quickly as a free cup of coffee can brighten one.
However we must always remember that is it us, not our circumstances that determine the ‘goodness’ of our day and life. This, however, is much easier said than done . An innocent “Don’t let it ruin your day,” is much easier said by the person unaffected. So here are some easy and almost too simple tricks to ensure more happier days, no matter what happens. I don’t remember any thoughts about it. However I do remember sitting at my Corporate America desk in NYC when I Googled “Meditation in New York.”
The first link in the search was Meditation and Buddhism in New York City. I attended a class that very same week.
I loved it. In those classes I felt calm and connected. I felt like my entire life made sense and that anything thrown my way, I could handle. Even if it was the size of a boulder and thrown at me by my boyfriend at the time.
See, He was the reason I started meditating.
