We all trust and believe the idea that no one on this Earth is perfect yet somehow when it comes to our businesses we all strive for just that – perfection. We pull back until we feel 110% sure of a website, a blog post, a vlog, a squeeze page and so on.
Here’s a thought. What if we took the lesson and ideal instilled in our lives as human beings that we can’t and never will be perfect and infused it into our business? Freaking out a bit? I know how that feels trust me I have had my share of not wanting to share something just out of worry that my words or hand motions just were not perfect for my chosen niche market.
There is a massive problem with all of this though – if you don’t move forward with anything for your business then nothing will happen.
By accepting the very fact that things will not ever be perfect or meet your very critical eye you will begin to move full steam ahead in making your business profitable and build your reputation + gain recognition.
Trust your ability. Trust that you will have avid followers + fans ALONG with unsubscribers + haters.
You are in the business of criticism. The very fact that you are an entrepreneur + business owner is courageous, respected and perfect. You are going to always be your own toughest critic and we are the ones that will be hardest to please. Remember that sometimes we are sitting way too close for comfort with our work and writing to recognize a success or failure. When you feel that belitting voice of criticism come out yelling – one very important step for you to take is to step away, step back, take a walk and breathe. If you come back to whatever it was that you were working on and it still does not seem “perfect” share it with one of your trusted friends or cheerleaders.
Do not let your need for perfection (which really really does not exist – if you need a reminder) stop you from stepping out and opening yourself for profit and love.
Remember too that in business things will shift and change – what feels great and pretty darn near perfection today might not have the same feeling a week, a month or a year down the road. Businesses are just like people – constantly growing and evolving.
Stop chasing after something that just does not exist. Let go. Trust the process. Welcome the criticism – both positive and negative. It helps us grow and inch that closer to nearing perfection.

Ashley, so true. I can only be my most authentic self, and I do know that in fact my biggest failures have been my greatest learnings. It is easy to say that now, but when I was in them – divorce, infertility, you name it — they felt like death at the time. Now I am grateful for those experiences as they helped me find my true inner strength as well as enable me in helping others with a lot of compassion. Thanks for the great reminders…
